The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has activated its online system for the release of transfer orders and submission of appeals under the 2025 Annual/Compulsory National School Teacher Transfer scheme, with key deadlines announced for teachers and principals.
Education Ministry officials said transfer orders for Primary (General) category teachers will be accessible from January 6, 2026, via the nstt.moe.gov.lk portal. Teachers have been urged to regularly monitor the portal using their individual logins to check transfer details.
The Ministry also reiterated that teachers who failed to report to duty under previously issued or extended transfer orders will not be able to rely on those orders if a new transfer is issued under the 2025 scheme, as such earlier orders will be deemed invalid.
An online appeals mechanism has also been introduced, allowing teachers to submit grievances electronically between January 6 and January 20, 2026. Education authorities said the move is aimed at improving transparency and efficiency in handling transfer-related disputes.
While appeals must be submitted online, teachers are required to follow a parallel manual process by handing over printed applications and supporting documents to their respective principals by January 21, 2026. Principals, in turn, are required to upload their recommendations by January 22, 2026, and ensure that the complete set of documents reaches the Teachers’ Transfer Branch by January 27, 2026.
The Ministry has also set up dedicated contact points to address issues arising during the process. Teachers encountering technical problems have been advised to contact the Data Management Branch, while transfer-related clarifications can be obtained from the National School Teacher Transfer Branch.
Education authorities emphasized that strict adherence to deadlines will be required and that delays or incomplete submissions may result in appeals being rejected.
