A male and a female suspect have been arrested by officers of the Northern Provincial Unit of the Computer Crimes Investigation Division (CCID) of the Criminal Investigation Department in connection with an online money fraud case.
The arrests were made on following investigations into an incident in which around Rs. 1 million was fraudulently obtained by deceiving victims into believing they had won cash prizes from the Dialog Mega Wasana draw via the internet.
The suspects, a 29-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman, are residents of the Batticaloa area.
Further investigations into the incident are being carried out by the Computer Crimes Investigation Division.
