The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has issued a landslide warning for three districts in the Central Province, valid for 24 hours from 10.00 p.m. tonight until 10.00 p.m. tomorrow (06).

According to the NBRO, the warning applies to selected areas in Kandy, Matale and Nuwara Eliya districts due to prevailing weather conditions.

In the Kandy District, residents in the Ududumbara area have been advised to remain alert. In the Matale District, the warning has been issued for Wilgamuwa, while in the Nuwara Eliya District, Walapane has been identified as a risk area.

The NBRO urged residents in the affected areas to be vigilant for signs of landslides, including cracks in the ground, tilting of trees, and unusual sounds, and to follow instructions issued by local authorities.

Emergency services have been advised to remain on standby, while the public is requested to seek immediate assistance if any signs of slope failure are observed.
