Accordingly, Parliament is scheduled to convene from today (January 6) until January 9.
Today’s proceedings (January 6) will begin from 9.30 a.m. to 10.00 a.m., with time allocated for Parliamentary business outlined under Standing Orders 22 (1) to (6).
From 10.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m., time has been set aside for oral questions, followed by questions under Standing Order 27(2) from 11.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m..
From 11.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m., Parliament will debate Orders published in Extraordinary Gazette No. 2371/35 under the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Act, and Orders published in Extraordinary Gazette No. 2428/13 under the Fisheries Pension and Social Security Benefits Act.
Thereafter, from 3.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m., a debate will be held on the resolution relating to the Proclamation published in Extraordinary Gazette No. 2468/45 dated December 28, 2025, issued under the Public Security Ordinance. Opposition Members of Parliament have informed the Committee that the time allocated for this debate would be insufficient.
In addition, at 5.30 p.m., a resolution will be presented to Parliament seeking approval to appoint a Parliamentary Select Committee. The Committee will be tasked with studying and making recommendations on the electoral system under which Provincial Council Elections should be conducted, as referred to in Order Paper No. 3, where no specific date has been fixed.
Parliament is expected to continue sittings in line with the approved schedule throughout the week.
