With a renewed rise in dengue cases across the country, authorities have decided to implement a three-day national dengue prevention programme to curb the spread of the disease.

The programme will be carried out on the 7th, 8th and 9th, under the guidance of the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government.

As part of the initiative, island-wide mosquito control, environmental clean-up operations and dengue eradication activities will be conducted to prevent the breeding of dengue-carrying mosquitoes.

Speaking at a media briefing held today (05), officials stated that the national programme will be implemented under the theme “A Clean City, A Healthy Life”, with the aim of ensuring a safer and healthier living environment for the public.

Authorities have urged the public to actively participate in the programme by eliminating potential mosquito breeding sites in their homes and surroundings, emphasizing that community cooperation is essential to effectively control dengue.
