According to official data, the orphanage earned a record income of Rs. 1,042 million during the period from January 1 to December 31, 2025, making it the most successful year in its 50-year history.
More than 600,000 local and foreign tourists visited the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage during the year, contributing to revenue that exceeded Rs. 1 billion for the first time.
Authorities note that the surge in tourist arrivals and improved management strategies played a key role in achieving this record-breaking performance, further strengthening the orphanage’s position as one of Sri Lanka’s leading tourist attractions.
