Accordingly, government and government-approved private schools, as well as Pirivenas, will resume academic activities from tomorrow. The Ministry stated that the first semester of the 2026 academic year will be conducted in accordance with the circular issued on December 9.
The Ministry of Education noted that the 2025 academic year was concluded on December 22 for Sinhala and Tamil schools, and on December 26 for Muslim schools.
