An international conference organized by the SAARC Journalists Forum, focusing on media freedom in the South Asian region, is set to commence tomorrow (04) at Nalanda University in India.
he two-day conference will bring together more than 200 delegates, including leading writers, media professionals, and research scholars from across the region. Participants are expected to engage in in-depth discussions on contemporary human rights challenges, cultural heritage issues, and the evolving media landscape in South Asia.
The primary objective of the conference is to urge regional governments to uphold international media ethics and to safeguard the constitutional rights of journalists. Special attention will also be given to the challenges currently faced by the regional media sector, the recognition it deserves, and the critical importance of protecting media freedom.
Several thematic sessions and panel discussions are scheduled as part of the conference, aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and promoting an independent, responsible, and free media environment in South Asia.
