Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development Bimal Ratnayake said that around 40 per cent of construction work on the first phase of the Central Expressway project, from Kadawatha to Mirigama, has now been completed.
The Minister made these remarks while participating in an inspection tour to observe the progress of construction work yesterday (01).
During the visit, Minister Ratnayake instructed officials to pay special attention to potential traffic congestion on the Colombo–Kandy main road, as well as at the entry and exit points of the expressway during the construction period.
He stressed that construction activities should be carried out in a manner that minimizes inconvenience to motorists and passengers, and directed relevant authorities to implement effective traffic management measures throughout the project duration.
