The project is being implemented under the patronage of the Ministry of Transport, Highways and Urban Development, the Sri Lanka Railways Department, and the Clean Sri Lanka programme.
The modernization aims to enhance passenger convenience, improve cleanliness, and upgrade infrastructure in line with tourism development and urban beautification objectives. Talpe Railway Station’s transformation is expected to serve as a model for the refurbishment of other railway stations across the country under the Dream Destination initiative.
