President Anura Kumara Dissanayake sought religious blessings from the Chief Prelates of the Amarapura and Ramanna Maha Nikayas as part of New Year observances, underscoring the importance of spiritual guidance in the conduct of state affairs.
The President first visited the headquarters of the Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Nikaya in Wellawatte, where he met the Chief Prelate, Most Venerable Karagoda Uyangoda Maithri Murthy Thero. During the meeting, the President inquired into the Thero’s well-being and engaged in a brief discussion. The Chief Prelate later chanted Seth Pirith and invoked blessings for the President in the New Year.
President Dissanayake later visited the Sri Vidyawas Maha Pirivena in Minioluwa, Mirigama, to meet the Chief Prelate of the Sri Lanka Ramanna Maha Nikaya, Most Venerable Aggamaha Panditha Makulewe Wimala Nayaka Thero. The Chief Prelate also chanted Seth Pirith, offering blessings for the President and the government’s activities in the coming year.
Member of Parliament Manjula Sugath Ratnayake and several others were present during the visits.
