A large consignment of narcotics, including heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine (ICE), with a street value exceeding Rs. 150 million, was seized by the Colombo Division Crime Investigation Unit during a raid carried out in Slave Island.
Police said three suspects were arrested in connection with the seizure. The haul included 1.98 kilograms of heroin, 4.411 kilograms of methamphetamine (ICE), and 1.58 kilograms of cocaine.
According to police investigations, a suspect found in possession of 120.80 grams of methamphetamine (ICE) was arrested first. Further arrests were made based on information revealed during his interrogation. The remaining suspects were arrested in the Wellawatta and Kadawatha areas.
Police investigations revealed that the suspects had been engaged in drug trafficking activities for a considerable period.
The suspects were to be produced before court.
