Sri Lanka’s aviation sector has recorded notable growth during the January–November period of 2025 compared to the corresponding period in 2024, the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation said.
According to the Ministry, international passenger movements reached 9.23 million during the first 11 months of 2025, reflecting a 15.2 per cent increase year-on-year.
International aircraft movements also rose significantly, with 58,454 movements recorded during the period, marking a 14.6 per cent increase compared to January–November 2024.
In addition, tourist arrivals by air showed strong growth, with approximately 2.1 million visitors arriving in the country during the same period. This represents a 16.7 per cent increase compared to the corresponding period last year.
The Ministry said the figures indicate a steady recovery and continued expansion of the aviation and tourism sectors in 2025.
