Dodangoda Police have arrested a former Samagi Jana Balawegaya Dodangoda Pradeshiya Sabha member for attacking a local government candidate.
The incident occurred yesterday (29th) around 4:45 pm during a funeral ceremony in the Nehinna area of Dodangoda. K.G. Wijayaratne Banda, who is contesting as a list candidate for the National Jana Balawegaya Party, was reportedly attacked with a chair by former Pradeshiya Sabha member Kumarasiri Jayasinghe.
Mr. Wijayaratne Banda is currently receiving medical treatment as an inpatient at Nagoda Hospital. Police have launched an investigation into the attack.
