A former prison superintendent has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of six inmates at Kalutara Prison in 2009.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) carried out the arrest under directives from the Attorney General. The suspect, a 57-year-old resident of Waskaduwa, was taken into custody during a special operation.
The incident, which occurred on April 15, 2009, shocked the nation when six prisoners were gunned down inside the high-security facility. Four others were seriously injured during the shooting.
