The Sri Lankan government has earned approximately Rs. 2.82 million through bribery and corruption-related prosecutions, according to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).

The revenue was generated from fines, compensation, and penalties imposed by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court and the Colombo High Court between January 1 and November 30, 2025.

A senior official from the Bribery Commission stated that the funds were collected solely from cases filed during this period, underscoring the effectiveness of the judiciary in handling corruption-related offenses.

By November 30, the Colombo High Court had filed 95 cases against 126 individuals involving charges such as bribery, corruption, illicit accumulation of assets, and money laundering, the Commission revealed.

Meanwhile, a total of 287 cases are currently under investigation and trial across the High Court, Magistrate’s Court, and the Tripartite High Court.

The Bribery Commission noted that these ongoing legal proceedings reflect the government’s commitment to strengthening the rule of law, deterring corruption, and reinforcing public confidence in the country’s justice system.
