Work on the Bailey Bridge constructed on the Badulla–Spring Valley road has reached its final stage, the Road Development Authority (RDA) said.
The Bailey Bridge is being built as an alternative to the original bridge in the Spring Valley area, which was severely damaged and destroyed due to a recent disaster. The road, which comes under the purview of the RDA, is a vital route used by residents for their daily needs and for transportation in the estate sector.
Following the destruction of the bridge, public transport along the route was completely disrupted, causing inconvenience to commuters and local communities.
Construction of the Bailey Bridge was completed yesterday (27), and the RDA stated that remaining work would be finalised soon. Once completed, the bridge will be opened for vehicular traffic, restoring normal transport services in the area.
