A police constable attached to the Suriyakanda Police, who is currently under suspension following an incident involving MP Shantha Pathma Kumara, arrived at the Kolonna Police today (28) to give a statement.
Speaking to the media, the constable said he had come to provide a statement in connection with a written complaint submitted to the Ratnapura Deputy Inspector General of Police on December 26, citing concerns over his personal safety.
He alleged that none of the suspects involved in the attack on him have been arrested so far and said that their continued freedom poses a serious threat to his life and the safety of his family.
The constable said he has requested police protection in view of the ongoing threat and claimed that justice has yet to be served in relation to the incident.
