The Ministry of Finance has issued a special circular announcing the removal of the departure tax charged on outbound passengers using Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport.

Accordingly, with effect from tomorrow (29), the USD 60 departure tax previously levied on passengers departing Sri Lanka via Mattala International Airport will no longer be charged.

The circular states that this concession will remain in effect until June 26 next year.

The decision has been taken with the objective of attracting more airlines and passengers to Mattala International Airport and boosting its operations.
