Minister of Health Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa has stated that while the media has the freedom to criticize the government and highlight its shortcomings, no one will be allowed to act in a manner that threatens national security by spreading distorted or false information.
The Minister made these remarks while addressing journalists at an event held to distribute laptop computers to Grama Niladhari officers in the Kalutara District.
A Kalutara District Coordinating Committee meeting was also held in conjunction with the event, with the participation of both government and opposition public representatives.
Following the meeting, Minister Jayatissa responded to several questions raised by journalists, reiterating the government’s position on media freedom and responsibility.
