Nuwara Eliya Mayor Upali Wanigasekara has invited both local and foreign tourists to visit the city for the upcoming New Year season, stating that the area has fully returned to normal following the impact of Cyclone Ditwah.

The Mayor said that daily life in Nuwara Eliya has been restored and that all essential services are functioning as usual. He emphasized that roads leading to the city have been completely repaired, ensuring safe and convenient travel for visitors.

Wanigasekara noted that a significant number of foreign tourists are already present in Nuwara Eliya, reflecting renewed confidence in the destination. To further attract domestic tourists, the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council has organized several entertainment and recreational events during the holiday period.

Meanwhile, foreign tourists currently in the city were observed at the Ambewela railway station, waiting to board trains bound for Ella, highlighting continued tourist interest in scenic rail travel across the hill country.

Authorities expect an increase in tourist arrivals in the coming days as New Year celebrations approach.
