The accident occurred when a private bus traveling from Weeraketiya toward Matara collided with a tipper truck traveling from Matara toward Beliatta. The impact of the collision caused significant damage to both vehicles, resulting in multiple injuries to passengers on the bus.
The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. No fatalities have been reported so far.
Beliatta Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident and to assess any possible violations that may have led to the collision. Traffic along the affected stretch of road was temporarily disrupted following the incident.
