During his visit, Dr. Jaishankar is also due to hold discussions with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Overseas Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath.
Dr. Jaishankar arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday (22) afternoon aboard a special Indian Air Force aircraft. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs stated that he is undertaking the visit as a special representative of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to the Ministry, the visit is aimed at reaffirming the Government of India’s support for Sri Lanka in the aftermath of Cyclone Ditva.
Dr. Jaishankar is scheduled to depart Sri Lanka later today after concluding his official engagements.
