Sri Lanka’s film and television industry is mourning the passing of veteran actor Sathischandra Edirisinghe, who died this morning at the age of 84.
Renowned for his versatility and strong screen presence, Edirisinghe earned widespread recognition for his performances in both cinema and teledramas, becoming a familiar and respected figure among audiences across the country.
His film career included notable roles in productions such as Sadol Kandulu and Kristhu Charitjaya, while his work in television during the 1980s featured popular teledramas including Palingu Menike, Tharadevi, Susima, Rathu Rosa, and Sudu Paraviyo.
Edirisinghe’s contributions left a lasting impact on Sri Lankan visual storytelling, particularly during a formative period for local teledramas.
