The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has recorded its highest-ever annual revenue collection after surpassing the Government-assigned target of Rs. 2,203 billion for 2025 by December 19, according to Commissioner General Rukdevi P. H. Fernando.

In a statement, the Commissioner General said the achievement marks a historic milestone for the department, reflecting improved revenue performance and compliance. She noted that further measures are planned to strengthen revenue generation in the remaining period of the year.

Ms. Fernando also conveyed her appreciation to taxpayers for their contributions through direct and indirect tax payments. In addition, she acknowledged the commitment and efforts of IRD officials, as well as officers from other public and private sector institutions, whose support played a key role in reaching the revenue target.
