Road rehabilitation work was carried out with the participation of several institutions, including the Road Development Authority (RDA), the 06th Engineer Regiment, the Nawalapitiya and Atgala Police Stations, the Pasbage Korale Pradeshiya Sabha, the Nawalapitiya Urban Council, and other relevant authorities.
According to the RDA, the soil and debris that had covered the road due to the landslide have been removed and the road has been made passable. However, as there is still a risk of further landslides from the soil embankment above the road, the route has been temporarily designed to allow safe traffic movement until a permanent solution is implemented.
Drivers have been urged to exercise extreme caution when using this section of the road while repair work continues. The RDA has also imposed certain restrictions on the movement of heavy vehicles along this route.
The reopening ceremony was attended by Brigadier Kodithuwakku of the 06th Engineer Regiment, Nawalapitiya Mayor Amal Priyankara, Pasbage Korale Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Manjula Karunarathna, Ganga Ihala Korale Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Indika Upul Gunasekara, along with several other officials and members of the public.
