The government has called on the public to distribute essential relief items through the established mechanisms of the Disaster Management Centre, District Disaster Committees, and Divisional Disaster Committees, emphasizing that a formal system is already in place for efficient aid distribution.

Authorities urged donors to provide assistance through District or Divisional Secretariats to avoid falling victim to fraudulent individuals posing as relief collectors.

The government further requested that donors hand over contributions to recognized institutions if they are unable to reach official administrative offices, ensuring transparency and accountability.

With many volunteers actively engaging in relief efforts, the government acknowledged the significant strength this has brought to national support operations. However, it also warned that information has surfaced about certain groups attempting to collect items through unofficial means.

By channelling donations through District or Divisional Secretariats, the government stated that it would be possible to prevent aid from being diverted into the wrong hands or fraudulently acquired.
