A high-level discussion on the damage to roads in the Nuwara Eliya District and the urgent measures required to restore them was held this morning (8) at the Nuwara Eliya District Secretariat under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, alongside relevant officials.
The meeting focused on roads damaged by Cyclone Ditwah and the timeframes needed for their repair. President Dissanayake requested detailed reports on roads that cannot be reopened through standard repair methods.
Officials highlighted that guidance from the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) should be considered when constructing certain roads and bridges in the district.
In response, the President instructed authorities to release necessary funds promptly for repairing roads, culverts, and retaining walls, and to ensure that all restoration work is completed before the end of the year.
