The flight brought a 110-foot, 65-metric-ton Bailey bridge and a JCB backhoe, equipment expected to play a key role in ongoing reconstruction efforts following severe flood damage.
A team of 13 engineering personnel from the Indian Army Corps of Engineers also arrived to support the installation and operational work connected to the bridge and other recovery tasks.
Officers from the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Engineers and representatives of the Indian High Commission were present at the airport to receive the consignment.
India’s continued assistance marks another step in the ongoing collaborative disaster-relief efforts between the two countries.
