A vessel carrying 950 metric tons of essential relief items from the state of Tamil Nadu has departed for the Colombo Port today (06), under the direction of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin.
The consignment—comprising food, clothing, and other necessities—has been dispatched in response to a request made by the Deputy High Commissioner in Chennai, Dr. Ganeshnathan Geetheeswaran, following instructions from Minister Vijitha Herath.
The donation was symbolically handed over to Dr. Geetheeswaran this morning at a ceremony attended by senior officials of the Tamil Nadu government and the Deputy High Commission in Chennai.
