The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has requested the public to handle wet or flood-damaged currency notes carefully to prevent further deterioration amid ongoing adverse weather conditions.

In a statement, the Bank advised individuals affected by floods to gently dry and preserve any damaged notes before presenting them to commercial banks for exchange or deposit. The CBSL emphasized that properly restored notes will help ensure smoother verification and replacement procedures.

Authorities further reminded the public not to attempt separating severely soaked or stuck-together notes forcefully, as this could cause additional damage and reduce the chances of successful replacement.
