A man who had been posing as an officer of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption was arrested on Wednesday (03 December). According to the Commission, the suspect had prepared a forged official identity card and fabricated letterheads to carry out the impersonation.
He was taken into custody following investigations launched in response to a complaint lodged by a resident of Panadura. The suspect, identified as a resident of Gorakapola, was arrested at the Panadura bus stand.
Further inquiries into the incident are underway.
