Apple CEO Tim Cook has announced that the tech giant will provide financial assistance for relief and rebuilding efforts across several Asian countries devastated by recent extreme weather. The support will extend to Sri Lanka, which has been severely impacted by floods, landslides and strong winds in recent days.

Cook stated that powerful storms sweeping through Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Sri Lanka have resulted in widespread destruction, leaving communities struggling in the aftermath. Regional reports reveal that more than 1,300 people have been killed and millions affected due to the severe weather conditions.

While Apple has not disclosed the exact contribution amount, the company confirmed that its aid will be directed toward immediate humanitarian relief as well as long-term reconstruction efforts.

Tim Cook made the announcement on X earlier today, expressing solidarity with the affected nations.

Apple’s longstanding philanthropy programme, Employee Giving, which matches staff donations, has raised over US$ 880 million for global humanitarian causes to date. This latest contribution is expected to strengthen ongoing recovery and support operations in the disaster-hit regions.
