India has agreed to deploy its powerful aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, capable of carrying more than 30 aircraft, to assist Sri Lanka’s ongoing rescue and relief efforts amid the severe weather triggered by Cyclone Ditwa.

According to reports, the carrier—currently anchored in Colombo—will deploy helicopters to support Sri Lanka’s continuous evacuation and humanitarian operations. The intense rainfall and strong winds brought by the cyclone have created hazardous conditions across the island, prompting the need for additional regional support.

India’s decision underscores the close cooperation between the two nations during disaster situations and aims to strengthen Sri Lanka’s search, rescue, and relief missions during this critical period.
