Heavy rainfall sweeping across the eastern slopes of the Central Highlands has led to significant flooding in several low-lying areas of the Kandapola region in Nuwara Eliya this afternoon (26), according to local reports.
The Kandapola–Kot Lodge junction on the Nuwara Eliya–Udapussellawa main road has been completely submerged, causing severe disruptions to vehicular movement along the route.
Farmers in the area have also been affected, as floodwaters have inundated vegetable cultivation fields, resulting in notable damage to crops. Authorities urge motorists and residents to remain cautious as rainfall continues.
