The Sri Lankan Shinrai Shotokan Karate Association team returned to the country this morning (26) after an impressive medal haul at the 16th International Open Karate Championship held in Coimbatore, India.

The team clinched a total of 13 medals—2 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze—in both Kumite and Kata events.

The championship, held from November 21 to 25, featured around 1,300 competitors from Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Thailand, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

The victorious Sri Lankan contingent arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport at 2:00 a.m. on Indigo Airlines flight 6E-1171 from Chennai.
