The National Audit Office Trade Union Collective has urged President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to formally appoint acting Auditor General G.H.D. Dharmapala as the Auditor General of Sri Lanka.
In a letter to the President, the Collective highlighted that Dharmapala has served in the role for the past seven months and has demonstrated his competence, a performance acknowledged by the Speaker of Parliament, the Committee on Public Enterprise (COPE), and the Committee on Public Accounts.
The union also noted that the Auditor General position has remained vacant since April 2025, emphasizing that Dharmapala is the most suitable candidate for the post.
Accordingly, the National Audit Office Trade Union Collective requested that the President confirm Dharmapala as the next Auditor General of Sri Lanka.
