A judicial official of the Galle High Court has been arrested by the Bribery Commission for soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs. 3,500.
According to the Bribery Commission, the official had demanded the bribe to issue a notice postponing the hearing of a case at the Galle Additional Magistrate’s Court.
The arrest followed a complaint filed by a party involved in the case.
The judicial official was produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court yesterday and has been remanded until November 28.
