Data released by Sri Lanka Customs including estimated figures for gems, jewellery, and mineral oil products indicate that total export earnings from January to October 2025 reached USD 14,433.82 million. This reflects a notable 6.0% growth compared to the same period in 2024, marking the first time in history that export revenue for the first ten months has surpassed the USD 14 billion milestone.
A significant highlight during this period is that coconut-based product exports exceeded USD 1 billion for the first time.
Speaking on the development, EDB Chairman and Chief Executive Mangala Wijesinghe stated:
“This is the highest-ever export value recorded for the January–October period in Sri Lanka’s history.
The steady recovery of major Western markets and the consistent production capacity maintained by local industries have contributed to this growth.
I commend the strength and dedicated performance of our exporters.
Importantly, we have already achieved 80% of the annual export target of USD 18 billion within the first ten months.”
The EDB says this strong performance reflects a stable upward trajectory in the country’s export sector as 2025 nears its final quarter.
