The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has issued an urgent public warning over the circulation of fraudulent business promotions on social media platforms that falsely use the Bank’s official logo.

In a statement, CBSL stressed that it has no affiliation with these schemes and urged the public to exercise extreme caution when encountering investment opportunities or financial promotions bearing its name or emblem.

The Bank noted that several individuals and groups are attempting to deceive the public by using CBSL’s branding to create a false sense of credibility, ultimately luring unsuspecting users into financial scams.

Authorities warn that falling victim to such schemes could lead to significant financial losses, especially amid a rise in online scams and deceptive investment offers circulating in recent weeks.

CBSL further advised citizens to verify the authenticity of any financial promotion through official channels and to refrain from sharing personal or banking information with unverified sources.
