Police Media Spokesperson ASP L.U. Wootler stated that approximately 400 corrupt officers have so far been removed from the Sri Lanka Police Service.

He made these remarks during a discussion at the Government Information Department on the topic of drugs and the black economy linked to narcotics.

ASP Wootler noted that the police service comprises around 80,000 officers, and that identifying corrupt individuals and taking action against them is being carried out under the direct supervision of the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

He further emphasised that the actions of every police officer are being closely monitored, and assured that disciplinary action will be taken against any officer found to be corrupt, irrespective of rank.
