A total of 3,575 Sri Lankans have gained employment in Israel’s construction sector during 2025 under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Governments of Sri Lanka and Israel.
Among them, 77 workers departed for Israel on 18 November, with their air tickets officially handed over by the Chairman of the Foreign Employment Bureau, Kosala Wickramasinghe, at a ceremony held at the Bureau auditorium.
In addition, 152 more workers are preparing to leave for construction jobs in Israel within the month of November, while another 464 workers are scheduled to depart during the first week of December.
Meanwhile, under the infrastructure sub-sector of the construction industry, 252 Sri Lankans have already departed for employment this year, with a further 34 workers currently preparing to leave for Israel.
The Bureau stated that it expects to send more skilled workers abroad for high-paying professional jobs. Accordingly, arrangements are underway to deploy trained Sri Lankan workers to various foreign countries.
