According to railway authorities, train movements on the Up-Country Line were limited up to Nanu Oya yesterday (19). This situation arose after earth slip between Idalgashinna and Ohiya caused a derailment of the night mail train.
A similar incident occurred on the 18th, when the night mail train bound for Colombo derailed between the Idalgashinna and Ohiya stations due to unstable soil conditions along the track.
Repair and clearance operations are currently underway, while passengers are advised to expect delays and possible cancellations as authorities work to restore normal services.
