The Colombo District Crime Division has arrested the gunman responsible for the fatal shooting in front of the 99-apartment housing complex in Kotahena, which claimed the life of an individual.

Police revealed that the arrested suspect is a 37-year-old former Army commando, now working as a contract killer and reportedly heavily addicted to ice. He was taken into custody while hiding in the Mahiyangana area.

A total of 12 suspects, including three women, have been arrested in connection with the killing. Among them are, the driver of the vehicle used in the shooting, Individuals who provided accommodation to both the shooter and the driver and several others who aided and abetted the shooting.

Investigations revealed that the murder was carried out on a Rs. 500,000 contract, though the shooter had received only Rs. 100,000 so far. Police also said the suspect is linked to multiple shootings and crimes reported across the Colombo area.
