The Department of Meteorology announces that a fresh low-pressure area is likely to develop over the southeast Bay of Bengal around 22 November 2025. This system may intensify further and is expected to move close to the northern coast of Sri Lanka. The public is urged to stay alert for upcoming forecasts and official bulletins.

According to the forecast for 20 November 2025, several spells of showers are expected in the Northern and North-Central Provinces, as well as the Trincomalee district.

Other parts of the island will experience showers or thunderstorms after 1.00 p.m.

Misty conditions are possible during the early morning hours in Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, Western, and Southern Provinces.

The Meteorology Department advises the public to take necessary precautions to minimize the risk of damage from strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
