The government has revised several charges related to the issuance of driving licences for both Sri Lankan citizens and foreign nationals under new regulations issued through Extraordinary Gazette No. 2463/04, dated 17 November 2025.
According to the Gazette, the fee for issuing a driving licence to a Sri Lankan citizen who already possesses a foreign driving licence has been set at Rs. 30,000, while the fee for a foreign national in the same category will be Rs. 60,000.
Updated fees have also been introduced for non-citizens, including Rs. 45,000 for issuing a driving licence and Rs. 15,000 for renewals. Charges for temporary driving licences for both visitors and foreign nationals have been revised across multiple duration categories under the new regulations.
