Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) National Organizer Namal Rajapaksa today dismissed renewed allegations regarding his academic qualifications, describing them as part of a coordinated political effort to undermine the party ahead of its rally in Nugegoda on the 21st.
Rajapaksa said the claims circulating online were “baseless” and “misleading,” adding that similar allegations had surfaced soon after the current government assumed office. He noted that an official investigation into his degree was approved by court within weeks of the government’s formation.
“The government obtained permission to investigate my degree months ago, yet no report has been submitted to court so far. Despite this, false claims continue to spread,” he told reporters.
He further accused political opponents of attempting to discredit him and weaken public support ahead of the SLPP rally.
“This is clearly a politically motivated move. All these accusations will be answered at the rally in Nugegoda,” he said.
Rajapaksa asserted that the event on the 21st would present the party’s response to what he described as a targeted smear campaign.
