Accordingly, Dr. (Eng.) K. Weligepola, a Special Grade Senior Officer in the Sri Lanka Engineering Service (Civil Category 3) and currently serving as an Additional Director General of the Department of Irrigation, has been appointed to the position. His appointment will take effect from December 4, 2025, based on the proposal submitted by the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands and Irrigation.
The incumbent Director General of Irrigation, I. P. A. Gunasekara, is scheduled to retire from public service with effect from December 4, 2025.
