The Act, No. 17 of 2015, was recently passed in Parliament, with Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne certifying the Gambling Regulatory Authority Bill on September 3 under Article 79 of the Constitution.
The new legislation establishes the Gambling Regulatory Authority and provides for the regulation and control of all types of gaming activities, excluding lotteries and social gaming.
