A Sri Lankan man living in the United Arab Emirates has won an astonishing Dh100 million in the UAE Lottery Lucky Chance draw, becoming the latest winner of the grand jackpot.
The winner, 29-year-old Yasitha Prasanna, said his journey began when he came across an advertisement for the UAE’s first and only official, government-regulated lottery on Instagram.
“I saw an advertisement on Instagram one day, and then I registered for the UAE Lottery,” he recalled at the draw booth.
Prasanna said he did not watch the live draw and only learned of his win through an email notification.
“I just got an email, then I clicked on it, and it said I had won 100,000 dirhams. I was shocked,” he said. It was later confirmed that he had won the Dh100 million jackpot.
With his life-changing prize, Prasanna said the first thing he plans to do is return to Sri Lanka with his parents. He also hopes to invest in a business.
“Next time, maybe we will meet again at the jackpot. You have to be brave enough to dream,” he said.
